Native American Bank and Park State Bank & Trust are providing $6.9 million in joint financing for Tava House Properties' restaurant and event center in Woodland Park, Colorado.

Native American Bank contributed $3.8 million while Park State Bank & Trust provided $3.1 million to fund the facility, which will feature three dining concepts led by Chef Victor Matthews. The project includes first-floor Tava Taphouse, a 50-draft beer hall with indoor seating for more than 40 guests and patio seating for another 50, plus the River Room Banquet Hall for weddings, receptions and corporate events. The second floor will house Firebrand Chophouse, a fine-dining restaurant.

"This partnership highlights the vital role community banks play in advancing projects that strengthen our communities," said Payton Batliner, senior vice president and chief lending officer at Native American Bank. "With the relationships, experience, and long-term commitment to navigate complexity, community banks like ours make possible the kinds of deals that larger institutions often can't or won't take on."

The venue takes its name from "Tava," the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe's original name for Pikes Peak. Matthews is partnering with Woodland Park community members Mary Sekowski, Derek Waggoner and Mark Weaver on the project.

Tava House is also launching a collaboration with Colorado Springs' Paragon Culinary School, which Matthews founded, to provide opportunities for people entering the culinary field.

"We've served Woodland Park for six decades—we know our community and how to help people realize visions here," said Kathryn Perry, senior vice president, chief lending officer and chief financial officer at Park State Bank & Trust. "When we approached NAB as partners, they were all in."

The facility is expected to open by April 2026 and is currently booking summer 2026 weddings and events.

Native American Bank is the first national American Indian-owned community development bank in the country and operates as a certified Community Development Financial Institution.
