SAN DIEGO — The Pechanga Band of Luiseño Mission Indians has inked a multi-year partnership with a National Women’s Soccer team ahead of the San Diego Wave Fútbol Club’s debut at Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The San Diego Wave FC is the 12th and newest member of the National Women’s Soccer League.

This marks the latest in a series of sports partnerships in Southern California for the casino, which includes deals with Angels Baseball, the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, SoFi Stadium, the Los Angeles Lakers and University of Southern California Athletics.

“Partnering with San Diego Wave Fútbol Club showcases our commitment at Pechanga to fostering relationships with a diverse portfolio of sports teams,” Andrew Masiel, Sr., president of the Pechanga Development Corporation, said in a statement. “The Wave Fútbol Club has already brought enormous energy and enthusiasm for sports back to San Diego. We’re humbled to be a part of that. We’re also looking forward to sharing the incredible athleticism and work ethic of these professional athletes with children in our region and within our Tribe.”

As part of the partnership, Pechanga will sponsor a Military Hero for select Wave FC matches to honor a service member in attendance. The resort also plans to host an annual social media contest for a “Wave Weekend Getaway,” where fans will have the opportunity to enjoy both Pechanga’s many resort and casino amenities and cheer on the Wave at a home match.

Pechanga signage will be featured in Snapdragon Stadium during Wave FC home matches. The organizations also plan to host a youth soccer clinic with Wave FC pros in 2023.

“We are excited to partner with Pechanga Resort Casino to amplify our shared commitment in providing youth sports access to the greater San Diego Community,” Jill Ellis, San Diego Wave FC Team President, said in a statement. “We’re proud to be part of Pechanga’s military support network as we come together to honor and celebrate our military heroes on Wave FC match days. We’re also especially proud to be Pechanga’s first women’s professional sports partner as we elevate and grow the sport of soccer in Southern California.”
