A renewable energy developer backed by one of the country’s largest clean energy companies is partnering with a Native-led nonprofit to train tribal members for solar and energy infrastructure jobs across five states.
The workforce initiative will provide training for up to 50 tribal members in Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Washington through hands-on solar installation instruction, industry certifications and development of a dedicated solar training lab.
The program is being led by Chicago-based Reactivate, an Invenergy-backed renewable energy company, and Tribal Energy Alternatives, a Native-led organization focused on energy sovereignty and clean energy deployment in tribal communities.
Participants will receive OSHA 10 and CPR certifications, along with stipends, resume assistance and job placement support. Funding for the initiative comes through Reactivate’s Renewable Energy Equity Foundation.
The effort comes as tribes, utilities and renewable energy developers face increasing demand for workers tied to solar development, grid modernization and broader energy infrastructure investments.
Reactivate CEO Utopia Hill said in a statement that the partnership is intended to help address workforce shortages in the clean energy sector while expanding opportunities for tribal members. T
ribal Energy Alternatives Co-Executive Director Tanksi Clairmont said the initiative is designed to support tribal workforce development and create long-term career pathways in clean energy.
Reactivate develops community solar, battery storage and EV charging projects. The company was founded by Invenergy and investment firm Lafayette Square.
