Founded in 2008 by Julia Bennett, an Army veteran and engineer, Bennett Aerospace initially operated as a small business innovative research (SBIR) company. In 2011, Bennett assumed the role of chief executive officer, redirecting the company's focus to encompass both SBIRs and professional support services for U.S. government agencies.

Over the years, Bennett Aerospace expanded its services beyond the DoD, capitalizing on its performance to secure large-scale administrative and technical contracts with agencies under the Department of Justice. This strategic move resulted in a substantial increase in the company's size, quadrupling its scale by 2016.
