Diné Development Corporation (DDC), the economic development arm of the Navajo Nation, announced the formation of a strategic joint venture by subsidiary Red Canyon Technologies, as well as a significant contract award for its DDC IT Services unit.

Red Canyon, a tribally owned leader in IT solutions, will partner with Perikin Enterprises, a prominent aerospace engineering firm, to establish a joint venture (JV) focused on Department of Defense (DoD) solutions. The collaboration leverages the Small Business Administration’s  mentor-protégé program, which fosters partnerships between established businesses and small disadvantaged businesses like Red Canyon, an 8(a) certified company.

"We are thrilled to partner with Perikin," Jeff Abney, DDC Vice President of Growth and Strategy said in a statement. "By joining forces, we'll deliver exceptional engineering and technology solutions with unmatched value to the defense community."

The Red Canyon-Perikin JV combines Perikin's expertise in advanced engineering, test and evaluation, operations and logistics with Red Canyon's knowledge of data enablement and IT solutions. This joint venture aims to create a well-rounded team equipped to tackle complex defense challenges and offer a robust suite of services.

Meanwhile, DDC IT Services said on June 3 that it secured a $50 million contract with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This win marks the successful recapture of both the Mainframe East and West contracts by DDC ITS within the past year.  DDC IT has worked with DISA since 2015, providing mainframe IT support for the agency and its mission partners.

The contract spans a one-year base period with four option years, potentially extending the partnership to five years. Under the agreement, DDC ITS will provide comprehensive IT solutions encompassing application hosting, software and hardware management, system and security modernization, and network connectivity solutions across the DoD.
