Eastern Shawnee Companies has launched a healthcare staffing subsidiary and hired an experienced management team as the tribal enterprise continues expanding its federal contracting operations.

The new company, Eastern Shawnee Staffing Solutions LLC, will provide healthcare staffing and on-site support services for federal, tribal and public-sector clients, according to the Overland Park, Kan.-based company.

Eastern Shawnee Staffing Solutions is wholly owned by Eastern Shawnee Companies, which is owned by the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma.

The subsidiary will provide clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals, administrative support and operational personnel. The company said it will manage recruitment, credentialing, onboarding and deployment for government and healthcare clients.

According to the company’s website, Eastern Shawnee Staffing Solutions plans to support federal healthcare programs including Indian Health Service and Bureau of Indian Affairs facilities, with a focus on tribal and underserved healthcare markets.

Eastern Shawnee Companies also announced the hiring of three healthcare staffing executives with prior experience supporting tribal and federal healthcare contracts, including Indian Health Service and Veterans Affairs staffing programs.

The hires include Trey Strecker as general manager of Eastern Shawnee Staffing Solutions, Daniel Matus as director of healthcare staffing and Barbara “Babs” Klinock as senior recruiter. According to the company, the three previously worked together in healthcare staffing environments serving tribal and federal clients, allowing the new subsidiary to scale operations more quickly.

The move adds healthcare staffing to Eastern Shawnee Companies’ growing portfolio of environmental, professional and technology services as the tribe continues building its federal contracting business.

Tribal Business News previously reported that Eastern Shawnee Companies secured SBA 8(a) certification in 2024 and formed multiple joint ventures across engineering, environmental services, broadband, IT and support services following the arrival of CEO Matt Metcalf and a new management team in late 2023.
