Waséyabek Federal Services, a subsidiary of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi's business arm, has won a five-year, $205 million contract to provide site operations support services for the National Energy Technology Laboratory.
The SBA 8(a) certified company will manage day-to-day facility operations and research and development activities at NETL sites in Morgantown, West Virginia; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Albany, Oregon. WFS will work alongside subcontractors Amentum and E2 Consulting Engineers to deliver the services.
The contract includes a two-year base period with three one-year options. Services encompass research and development support, engineering and facility management, environmental safety and health support, and environmental remediation and disposal services.
WFS will begin operations under the new contract on Sept. 1, 2025.
Deidra Mitchell, president and CEO of Waséyabek, said the contract reflects the company's strategy to expand its federal contracting business and represents a major win for the tribe's economic sustainability. The company operates 32 entities nationwide with more than 650 employees across industries including defense software solutions, propulsion design and manufacturing, healthcare technologies, transportation, environmental solutions, accounting services and facilities management.
The company has pursued an aggressive acquisition strategy in recent years, adding electronics manufacturer Safari Circuits in 2022 and defense software firm VES in 2023. Mitchell has said the company aims to reach $1 billion in revenue by 2040 through its buy-and-hold investment approach that focuses on long-term growth rather than quick sales.
