Native American-owned medical products manufacturer Prestige Ameritech, Ltd. acquired a healthcare supply-chain firm in a deal that expands its presence in the medical supply industry.
North Richland Hills, Texas-based Prestige acquired S2S Global from Charlotte, N.C.-based healthcare improvement company Premier, Inc. (NASDAQ: PINC) in exchange for a 20 percent stake in Prestige. The transaction increases Premier's total ownership in the Native-owned company to 24.2 percent.
Prestige Ameritech, one of the largest domestic manufacturers of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the United States, plans to leverage S2S Global's assets to expand its product range and bolster domestic medical supply production.
"With the size and scale of S2S's assets, we believe we will be able to expand into product categories that need additional competition and U.S. supply to avoid shortages and enhance supply chain resiliency," Dan Reese, Prestige founder and CEO, said in a statement.
The acquisition positions Prestige Ameritech to potentially become one of the largest diverse medical sourcing companies in the country, marking a significant milestone for Native American-owned businesses in the healthcare sector. The company sells three major brands: ProGear® Healthcare PPE, featuring over 30 types of surgical masks and N95 respirators made entirely in the USA; Anexa Biomedical, which produces sterile water and sterile saline products at their Texas facility; and NORTH™ Industrial Respiratory Protection, for which they are the sole licensee of Honeywell's PAPR line.
The company, which played a significant role in PPE manufacturing during the COVID-19 pandemic, was recently selected as a supplier for a multiple-award indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract from the National Institutes of Health. The contract, which runs through September 2026, has a ceiling value of $99 million and covers American-made PPE including surgical masks, respirator masks, protective eyewear, gowns, and other protective gear, according to market intelligence firm HigherGov.
As a TERO Certified Native American Owned Business, Prestige Ameritech has been verified by a Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) as being majority-owned, controlled, and managed by enrolled members of a federally recognized tribe. The certification validates Prestige's status as a Native-owned enterprise and potentially provides benefits such as contracting preferences with tribal and federal agencies.
The S2S Global deal follows Prestige Ameritech's 2023 acquisition of Anexa Biomedical, a domestic manufacturer of sterile water and sterile saline products. This earlier acquisition, funded in part by investments from Premier, Inc. and 16 leading national health systems, expanded Prestige's offerings to include products historically prone to shortages.
