Federally recognized tribes and tribal organizations can apply for tribal tourism grants up to $300,000 to attract more visitors to existing tribal destinations and tourism operations.
The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs announced the $2.4 million funding notice on June 29 through the Tribal Tourism Grant Program. The agency expects to award 10 grants ranging from $200,000 and $300,000 for projects that promote and enhance existing tribal tourism offerings. Awards will cover a 24-month project period.
Eligible projects can include tourism experiences, cultural programming, recreational activities, branding, websites and promotional campaigns. The funding cannot be used to establish new tourism operations or for construction or construction-related activities.
The funding notice encourages applicants to prioritize projects that celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary. Eligible activities can include preservation planning, interpretation, public engagement and rehabilitation projects focused on U.S. history and cultural heritage.
Applications must be submitted by Aug. 7 through the grants.gov opportunity number BIA-TTGP-2026-OIED.
The Office of Indian Economic Development administers the program in support of the Native American Tourism and Improving Visitor Experience Act, known as the NATIVE Act. No matching funds are required.
